A style to suit you
I have a level 5 diploma in integrative counselling gained in London. This means that I am trained in many different aspects of counselling which I sometimes weave together depending on what you the client needs and what the particular issue is. The most important thing, however, is that you are able to trust me and that I will be guided by you and who you are and what you would like to talk about.
My main style is “person-centred” which simply means that I will listen, encourage and also be my true-self in order to help you find the answers that you need for yourself.. However, I also have other styles that I can use to tailor-make our sessions just for you and your particular.
Other styles that I then may offer include:-
- CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) type of approach for particular problems including:- stress, anxiety, insomnia, phobias etc
- SFBT (Solution Focussed Behavioural Therapy) which is more solution based and positive approach and celebrates your successes and growth within counselling, much like positive psychology
- Psychodynamic/existential:- This is looking at how the past effects the present and making sense of your life and your story
- Trauma informed:- This is looking at past or recent past trauma, which can be from various types of abuse or a one-off traumatic experience including bereavement. This style aims to help you feel safe and emotionally regulated before embarking on talking of the trauma.
- Creative activities to help discover and express thoughts and feelings:- activities may include use of therapy cards, drawing exercises, journalling, nesting dolls, sand tray work (use of miniatures to help express feelings when words don’t help), mindfulness exercises & much more
We can decide together on what style you think might most suit you but the most important thing will be that a trusting and honest relationship is built which will enable you to be yourself and ultimately meet your goals.
Some of the things I can help with:
✺ Anxiety ✺ Stress ✺ Trauma ✺ Bereavement ✺ Emotional and physical abuse (including spiritual abuse and cult like behaviours by individuals or organisations) ✺ Control and coercion (persuading someone to do something by force or threat) ✺ Loss ✺ Depression ✺ Confidence building ✺ Phobias ✺ Menopause ✺ Relationships ✺ Redundancy ✺ Retirement ✺ The past still affecting you & more.
